STATEMENT FROM SPEAKER GRETCHEN LEWOLF ON THE OUSTING OF US HOUSE SPEAKER KEVIN MCCARTHY - Statement Made October 3, 2023

Today we have witnessed history unfold in the United States House Of Representatives. Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted by 8 Republicans and 208 Democrats who were angered by the statements McCarthy made about the avoidance of the US Government Shutdown that loomed over them just a few short days ago. As the United States House works to get its affairs in order, I've just liked to say that regardless of party, it is important not only for the speaker of America to hold true, faith and allegiance not only to the country, but to the people in which they represent, and Kevin McCarthy had expressed little interest in the fight for American citizens.

Mr. McCarthy failed to uphold his duties and worked with US President Joe Biden to send additional funding to Ukraine. He has failed that mission. It is an important step in America, to renew the country, bring about solutions to economic crises, address its border crisis, and work to strengthen America. It is great to see accountability by House Republican Matt Gaetz, who spearheaded his removal, and as so, upheld the constitutional duties of the office. Whole-heartedly a Nationalist, it was refreshing to see how promptly both parties came together for the good of America.

But as a search for a new speaker is required, the House falls under the leadership of Speaker pro Tempore Patrick McHenry. He will lead the House until a speakership election can be held. I hope and pray that a speedy election takes place and that American democracy gets back on track.
