Speaker LeWolf Addresses Death Of Sam Simon

From The Office Of The Speaker Of The House Of The People

SPEAKER - Gretchen LeWolf

On January 14, 2023, my office as well as many others were made aware of the sad passing of Former Vice President Sam Simon who left office less than a month ago. In his passing, Simon takes with him wisdom greater than any I have ever heard from a Vice President. Not only that, he leaves behind his wife, Karen Simon, his two sons, and his two dogs. He also leaves behind his Mother Dorene Simon and father Tank Simon. Simon was one of a kind in that he was able to unify a failing administration. During his tenure as Vice President, and as the Nationalist Party fell apart, amid President McCallum's Sexual Assault Allegations, he managed to rally the party around THEIR President.

His kindness and personability will never be replicated in the way seen with the late VP, and colleague. As we continue to mourn his passing, and as we see his body lay in repose here at the Capitol, we ask that Representatives and Senators alike stop by and pay their respects to our late Vice President. Simon once told me, and I hold this dear to my heart more now than ever, "It isn't about what we[the Government] want, or what we think we need. It is about what the people want and need. We work for the people of this great nation and when we forget that, we fall into a pulpit of disorganization and trust. Our values are flushed away with them."

As we grieve his loss, we want those to remember what Simon would have done, worked to resolve our issues, not fight about them, and we as a Congress and on behalf of the House OF The People, send our sincerest condolences to the Simon family and the Simon administration.

Sorrowfully,

Gretchen LeWolf
